THE PRINCESS EVENT

The Operation Glass Slipper prom dress event was held March 14th and 15th, and that is the only weekend of the event. If you missed the event, we suggest you call Once Upon A Time Formals, which has a similar mission but operates all year. Call 612-231-5480, leave a message with your name, school, date of your prom, and phone number and they will call you back to set an appointment to pick out a prom dress. They are located in West St. Paul and set appointments for evenings and weekends.
The Pourhouse hosted our First Annual, “Put Your Princess On” event last week and it was lots of fun! We want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who attended and supported our cause!

2015 Princess Event Sign Ups are now LIVE! This is our 9th Annual event! We could not do it without our AWESOME volunteers that help make prom memorable for girls who wouldn’t be able to attend prom without a dress and accessories from Operation Glass Slipper. We are now ready to begin filling the roles that volunteers need to play to make the Princess Event a success. Volunteer Training It is very important that everyone watch the training video, even if you are a seasoned volunteer. We have made some changes to our procedures this year, and everyone will need to follow those procedures to make things run smoothly during the Event. There will be no live training sessions; the video is the only form of training. If you have a pink OGS T-shirt from a previous Princess Event, please wear it as that will reduce the number of new T-shirts we have to order. If you do not have a pink OGS T-Shirt, you may pick yours up before your shift OR you may pick it up in advance at the Event location at Southdale Tuesday afternoon, March 10th, 5pm-8pm, Wednesday, March 11th, 10am-3pm and 5pm-6:30pm, and Friday afternoon, March 13th, 1pm-3pm. You do not have to pick up your T-shirt in advance if you don’t want to; it’s just an option. You can park on the second level of the ramp on the France Ave side of Southdale (between Macy’s and the movie theatre) and enter Southdale through Door 21. The Event is in the old Ragstock space on the second level.
We have now confirmed the dates of the 2015 Princess Event:
Saturday, March 14th, and Sunday, March 15th
The event will again be held at Southdale Center in Edina, but this year in the space previously occupied by Ragstock (2nd floor).
GIRLS: if you cannot afford a prom dress, please speak with a favorite teacher, counselor, school social worker, or clergy member about obtaining an Operation Glass Slipper referral form. You will need one in order to get a dress at the Princess Event. Information packets with referral forms will be sent to high school offices in mid-February. We will update this website to let you know when the packets have been sent. We DO NOT send referral forms to students.

We always request that school offices route the packet to teachers, counselors, and other school staff, so check with your school office if you have not received a packet after we have mailed it. Please note that referral forms WILL NOT be available for download on our website.
VOLUNTEERS: There are many ways you can help. We need several hundred Fairy Godmothers to help the girls choose their dresses and accessories. But we also need many other kinds of help, such as dressing room attendants and dress runners to keep the dresses organized and flowing during the event. We need help moving from our warehouse to Southdale, setting up and tearing down, and moving back.
Again this year we will use a separate website for online signup for volunteer shifts, and in mid-February we will email you a link with instructions for signing up.
